Urban Landscape and Skyline Photographer
Resides: Long Island City, NYC
Bio: Born and raised in New York, undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, a resident of New York City since 1999.
After 17 years, I moved out of Manhattan to Long Island City, discovered and fell in love with the Manhattan Skyline. Each night I was enjoying the beautiful glows from the Empire State Building and the Manhattan skyline. I wanted to share that with my friends. I was hooked, Photography took over my life.
Inspiration for Work: Kawase Hasui (Japanese Woodblock Print Artist), Alfred Stieglitz and Ansel Adams.
I use vintage, 30+ year old lenses and modern state of the art lenses to produce images.
As I look through my camera at a scene I am trying to capture, I feel a sense of joy, I’m relaxed, I’m in the zone. My hope is that the viewer experiences the same thing when they see my work, I want them to share my sense of joy and wonder. It’s kinda great to be able to do that.
My work is about the things we see everyday, like the incredible NYC skyline, but maybe we’re too busy appreciate them. My subjects are the NYC skyline and the incredible glows that come from them. The ESB, arguably is the most famous building in NYC, is the focal point of this show and thus the name Empire.
